iPad Comics doing it wrong

Kotaku argues comic publishers are doing it wrong, and I agree. I’d love to be able to access and read comics electronically, but not if it’s going to cost the same as a hardcopy. Back issues should be cheap as chips, and as there is no real way to access those now any money publishers make is a bonus. Fans will still buy the paper collections if the story is a keeper, so it’s money for jam.

Best movie posters of 2010

Best movie posters of 2010 from MUBI and FirstShowing. MUBI’s list is far better and more eclectic. Nice to see a great film get a great poster (I Am Love). I also liked the poster for The Social Network, despite the film not living up to the hype - good but not great.

Making an NFL ball

Amazingly, it’s all by hand, and all by long term employees. Including the poor guy who turns the ‘carcass' inside out. That’s why Kripsy Kreme donuts are so bad - not a human hand involved.

The Gandhi Principle

Tim Carmody is correct:

I feel like we need a corollary to the Ad Hitlerem/Godwin’s Law fallacy. I’m going to call it “the Gandhi principle.” Just like trotting out the Hitler analogy for everything you disagree with shuts down a conversation by overkill, so do comparisons with Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Jesus, and other secular and not-so-secular activist saints.

Ricky Gervais: Why I’m An Atheist

Ricky Gervais:

My point being, I’m saying God doesn’t exist. I’m not saying faith doesn’t exist. I know faith exists. I see it all the time. But believing in something doesn’t make it true. Hoping that something is true doesn’t make it true. The existence of God is not subjective. He either exists or he doesn’t. It’s not a matter of opinion. You can have your own opinions. But you can’t have your own facts.
